Red Flag Warning- No Burning

Red flag warning for dangerous fire conditions. No burning advised. Call 9-1-1 to report.

Platteville, Gilcrest and surrounding unincorporated areas are under a Red Flag Warning from 11 AM TO 8 PM MDT SUNDAY April 27th because of gusting wind, dry conditions, warm temperatures, and low relative humidity causing dangerous fire conditions.

PGFPD wants to remind you of the dangers of rapid wildfire spread during these conditions.

Red Flag Warnings are issued by the National Weather Service and mean a small spark could lead to a large wildfire.

In our area, this means:

  • All burn permits are not valid on days with an active Red Flag Warning.
  • We ask residents and property owners to please restrain from any outside burning and use caution if you are using machinery or equipment that may cause a spark.
  • All open fires outdoors including agricultural burns are discouraged (please avoid these anytime winds are above 10 miles per hour).
  • Propane grills and heating lamps should be used with caution.

Thank you for helping keep our community fire safe!
