2 - Firefighter EMT's

Hours: Full Time – 48/96 shift

Compensation: Starting salary will be $68,000, plus an excellent benefits package

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, “At-Will”

We are looking for two dedicated and committed professionals to join our team at Platteville-Gilcrest Fire Protection District. Our new 34,000 square foot headquarter station was completed in June and the remodel of Station 2 in Gilcrest has been completed with a second story living quarter space and additional square footage for our training room, fitness room and office space.

We are looking for individuals who are energetic and excited to continue with the vision, direction and cultural change the district is going to become world class, is a team player and has a willing and positive attitude. Requires effective communication, empathy and the ability to cultivate positive relationships with patients, peers, and the public. Must be an individual who is detail oriented, organized, communicates above average, highly skilled, experienced and can operate in a lower call volume system providing medical care to our citizens and visitors of Platteville and Gilcrest.

Applicants must pass an assessment process that includes a written test, a physical ability test, medical scenario, shift ride along (working interview) and an oral board interview.

Mandatory Minimum Qualifications and Required Certifications:

  1. - Must be a minimum of twenty-one (21) years of age
  2. - High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  3. - Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s license or obtain with 90 days of hire
  4. - Must successfully pass a criminal background check, driving record check, and drug screen
  5. - Must possess the ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) the English language
  6. - Must be a United States citizen or have applied for citizenship.
  7. - Must possess and maintain the following Colorado certifications:
    1. - Firefighter I
    2. - HAZMAT Operations
    3. - EMT-B (NREMT preferred)
    4. - AHA CPR
    5. - NIMS 100, 200, 700 & 800

Preferred Certifications and/or must obtain upon hire

  1. NREMT (must obtain with 12 months of hire)
  2. Colorado Driver Operator (must obtain within 12 months of hire)
  3. Wildland S-130/190 (must obtain within 12 months of hire)
